comics are super-contradictory on what the pit does, but YEAH, i'm 100% with you, OP. it should have bad consequences!!

if you want some of the lazarus pit stories that skew more toward the ominous side, i think some good comics to check out are

batman 243 (first comic to introduce the lazarus pit)

lost days (backstory for jason's resurrection)

resurrection of ra's al-ghul (dick & tim fight over whether tim should experiment to see if he can use the lazarus pit to bring back his loved ones)

I do not care about what canon says, pit "madness" exists to me. Not because I need an excuse for Jason's violence and the murder attempts on his family, but because, from a storytelling point of view, you need your immortality bath water to have some consequences for your heroes to not use it every tuesday. You want death and injuries to still matter, it is silly for your characters to be worried about each others' health when they can just take a dip in the magic green goop and be back in one piece without side effects. Which is literally what is going on now in the comics, with the batkids dying and immediately being resurrected with a sip of the forbidden green smoothie. Like, what's the point than? You're going to tell me the tale of a man who created a symbol from his grief, only to give him some magic goop that can make him and his loved ones immortals without drawbacks, and I'm supposed to believe he would refuse that power? That he would not have dip Jason himself the moment the kid died if there was no consequences? Nuh uh. Like, I can understand a "immortality is against nature" as the simple reason why your heroes would be against using it, BUT when we are talking about a child that was murdered, it's not really immortality to bring him back to life, so it doesn't work.

Immortality must have some aftereffects so your heroes can understand the attraction to its use, but the cons are too much for them to actually do.

he's quite literally one of THE most important characters to the story, he's the bridge between current harry and harry before he drank the amnesia potion, having been one of the closest people to harry for at LEAST two years... y'all r always saying "b-but he only has 10 minutes of screen time!!! how can he be important?" as if the damn game wouldn't have even happened if the necromancer wasn't there, and he's there for even LESS time than jean 😭

so like, excuse me for being fucking interested in what's going on between him and harry I guess??? there's just enough vaguely hinted in the game to be interested in what's going on there, like in EDC passives that show him at the radiant conglomerate of magic talking to the other witches about harry, the stuff you can talk to him about in-person when he's wildshaped outside the cottage,,,, he's literally just. Hcs for a Tav who grew up being starved/neglected. Maybe their parents were poor or they were an orphan on the street. They don’t hoarde too much food but they don’t eat in front of others. And rarely take enough. And they refuse to shower near the others or camp super close to them. They’re almost always on alert and are really bad at self care. They’re always dirty, hair a mess. They kind of smell. And they are also ashamed of the fact no one taught them how to take care of themselves???

For Astarion, Gale, Halsin, and Wyll? ^_^

A/N: Oh Nonnie, I feel this! I was a child of divorce and at one house we were very disciplined and had routines for self-care and homework and everything. But the other house was chaotic and full of resentment and neglect. It’s so odd how something 20+ years ago can still affect you today, but it absolutely can. 💚

For some resources on having to figure things out as an adult, may I recommend the “How Do I Dad?” YouTube Channel and the r/InternetParents subreddit? Those are the two I like the best atm. Also remember, Google is your friend. Whenever I want a real person to answer, I usually type in my question with a plus sign then Reddit (+reddit) which will pull up real user’s threads from Reddit about the subjects you’re Googling. It’s one of the last platforms I think is usable in that way. So that's why I do that. Then again, I’m old and might just miss the old ppl’s Internet.

🧼️ HCs for Neglected!(GN)Tav With Astarion, Halsin, & Wyll 🛁

Astarion: 

Okay, he’s kinda a dick about it at first. He doesn’t mean to be. Well, I mean, yes he meant to make those petty comments, but he wouldn’t have made them if he knew about Tav’s past circumstances. Once Tav lets it slip they’re bad at self-care because no one ever taught them, Astarion immediately feels a sense of kinship. 

He was a magistrate before Cazador captured and turned him, and he considered himself to be a man of some luxury, but after being taken that all changed. He lived in filth, he was fed filth, by the hells, Cazador saw him as filth. He knows what it feels like to be seen as worthless and to have to survive in meager conditions. He wants Tav to understand none of it is their fault. They had no control over their circumstances. He tells Tav to never apologize for the way they had to live in order to survive. 

The first thing he offers to help Tav with is bathing and dressing. When Cazador let him out to lure victims, Astarion perfected disguising his undead scent over the decades. Part of it was using oils and perfumes, and another part was choosing the right attire. He’ll find the right kind of soap and cleansing oils for Tav's skin and hair type, insisting they get only the best the markets of Baldur’s Gate have to offer. If Tav can’t afford it, who cares? He’ll just sneak around the merchant and steal it while Tav distracts them. Or Lazel, if Tav refuses to do something so morally questionable.

He doesn’t really pick up on Tav’s refusal to eat with the others, mainly because Astarion also doesn’t eat with the others. But if Tav requests, Astarion will gladly sit and gossip with Tav as they eat their meal, away from everyone else. 

Astarion might suggest the party visit an inn or a bar one night, and encourage Tav, in his way, to let their guard down and eat around the others. He wants Tav to practice consuming food in the presence of their other friends. Astarion believes it’ll do two things: 1) It’ll prove to Tav, that it’s safe to eat in their company and 2) It’ll reinforce what Astarion’s been saying to them, that there’s nothing wrong with the way they eat. Even if they scarf their food down or eat with their hands or burp extra loud- who cares? Karlach practically inhales three portions in a single bite. Gale won’t shut up while he eats, so he’s always talking with his mouth full. And Shadowheart takes the tiniest bites imaginable, meaning she takes fricken forever to finish a single plate. Everyone has their own style, and Tav’s is nothing to be ashamed of. 

If Tav and Astarion are especially close or if they’re dating, Astarion will even offer to help Tav wash up. Not because he wants to see them naked, or to have sex, but because he really wants to shower them in affection. He’ll gently massage their shoulders as he works the cleansing oils into them. He’ll help them balance, bending backward as he washes their hair, gently using the very tips of his sharp nails to scratch their scalps. It feels heavenly, and it’s a great intimate, non-sexual way for the two of them to grow closer. 

It may be true no one was there to take care of either Astarion or Tav in the years past. But now that they’re together, the two of them can take care of each other. 

Halsin: 

Halsin prefers to live amongst nature as opposed to city dwellings, so he’s more accustomed to roughing it than the others may be. That being said, he’s not unclean, or unkempt- he keeps himself very well groomed (as one must do when they tend to ask to bed anyone and everyone they come into contact with for more than five seconds). He assumes Tav is just more accustomed to infrequent bathing at first. Not everyone is as fortunate as he is. But he begins to suspect something, the more the days go on, and Tav’s appearance and demeanor doesn't change. 

He’ll try casually inviting Tav to come bathe with him. He knows the perfect spot just beyond the Grove, that’s secluded but not too small, that would well accommodate both of their bodies. He suggests this regardless of whether he and Tav are dating or not. If Tav is hesitant, he apologizes for being forward and kindly explains he just wanted to present Tav with the opportunity to take some time for themselves. When Tav breaks down in front of him, explaining why they’re so upset about the idea of grooming and self-care, Halsin is immediately sympathetic.  He listens intently as Tav gets their fears off their chest. 

Once Halsin understands Tav’s situation, he’ll take them into his tent, and show Tav his collection of soaps and brushes, and oils. Halsin explains how he prefers to use each one before gifting them to Tav to keep for themselves. When Tav protests that it’s too much, Halsin puts a hand up to stop them. He can always buy new items. Besides, he’s learned how to make the most of what only Mother Nature has to offer. He can manage without fancy cleansers and bristles for a time. Tav deserves them more. 

Halsin might even offer Tav some clothes if he has any that wouldn’t be too difficult to tuck or take in, as he’s a very big man. With Tav’s permission, he might even ask Shadowheart Lazel or even Astarion if they have something they could spare for the time being, if Tav is too embarrassed or shy to ask for themselves. 

He offers to keep watch and guard Tav as they bathe, promising not to look unless Tav asks them to. If the two are dating, Halsin will assist them, helping Tav scrub down and removing all the dirt, grime, and dead skin before washing them in the water. If the two are only friends, Halsin keeps his promise of not looking at Tav until they are dressed again. He’ll help detangle and braid Tav’s hair, taking care not to pull too hard on any knots. The whole ordeal leaves Tav feeling rather pampered. 

As far as eating goes, Halsin will always offer to share any meal he catches while the party is camping together, which is how Halsin notices Tav’s different eating habits. Halsin swears that as long as he is well and able to hunt and gather food, Tav will never go hungry in his presence. Halsin assures Tav that it’s okay to eat full, rather than stockpile most of their meals for later. It’s much more important to eat for energy now, rather than wait to eat later. It keeps one’s energy levels stable and helps to reduce any unintentional food waste as things tend to spoil. 

Halsin takes it upon himself to become a provider of sorts for Tav, the one Tav never had. He plans to lavish Tav with so much attention and care that those wounds caused by years of abandonment and neglect have no choice but to close. 

Wyll: 

Wyll is a bit awkward about it in the beginning. Not because he intends to be rude, but because he’s unsure of how to approach the subject with Tav without sounding like a snide ass. If it were any other companion, he might have made an offhand comment days ago, but when it comes to their leader, Wyll holds much more admiration and respect. So, Wyll holds his tongue until things become a bit more apparent, and he believes he knows the most sensitive way to navigate them. 

When everyone sits down to eat, Wyll asks Tav if they’d like to join them. He does this every evening, hoping Tav will eventually say yes. If Tav still doesn’t bite, he’ll come to them, and ask if he could sit next to Tav as they eat. Wyll makes a casual conversation between bites, trying to bring Tav out of their shell. If there's still no change, Wyll opens up about being on his own, having been kicked out of his home as a young man. He reveals how for the first few years he was often hungry, tired, and cold- being forced to move around from place to place outside of Baldur’s Gate without the proper supplies to fend for himself or keep himself dry. This prompts Tav to open up a bit about their past- how they also had to survive on their own, and now, as an adult, they don’t know how to do anything other than ‘survive’. 

Wyll is, of course, empathetic. Tav may not have come from a noble background like Wyll did, but that’s no excuse for all Tav had to endure, especially as a child. Wyll tells them he’s sorry Tav had to live through all that, and makes it very clear that it was in no way, Tav’s fault. They were just a kid, they should have been protected. There’s nothing to feel ashamed about. They didn’t fail, others failed them. 

Wyll had to learn how to do many things on his own, and he thinks it would be best for him to share all he’s learned. One night, he sits with Tav at dinner, encouraging Tav to eat, as Wyll tells them how he learned where to stay, how to get work, when to leave, and where to train. 

Together, Wyll and Tav come up with a list of items Tav most likely needs for self-care. All the while Wyll does his best to ensure Tav doesn’t feel judged for lacking such things. Again, Wyll reminds them, it’s not their fault. And there’s never any time to start like the present. If they’re close enough to a market, Wyll will take them there, and help Tav purchase everything they need. However, if they’re somewhere without vendors, say the Underdark or the Shadowlands, Wyll will approach a party member for assistance. 

Out of all of the companions, Wyll asks Astarion if he has any extra cleansing soaps or oils because Wyll knows Astarion’s the most high-maintenance party member amongst them lol. Once Wyll secures those items, he gifts them to Tav, and lets them know he’d be happy to stand guard while they bathe. Wyll plants himself midway between the camp and the river, giving Tav ample space. Wyll would feel that being too close to them, in this manner, at this point, even if he and Tav were in a relationship, would be inappropriate. 

Once Tav is bathed and dressed, Wyll escorts them back to the fire. As Tav’s hair dries, Wyll regales them with much more upbeat stories, tales of his times as the Blade of Frontiers. His battles and triumphs, his rescues and saves- all of that. He wants Tav to know he has their back. Wyll is capable of protecting Tav, and he intends to do it in a way where Tav never has to feel abandoned or forgotten again.

hcs on curly’s thoughts/reactions to pony boy getting jumped because of him

•gonna b very honest, the whole thing probably started over something so stupid and it just snowballed. pony knew about it but generally tries not getting involved in curlys more “serious” beefs for his own safety which curlys fine w. howeevverrrr there would b times where pony pushes curly to end it alr cause its stupid and they got into teenyyyy tinnnyyy arguments about that

•looking back on those moments, curly would feel bad (duh) but i dont think he would want to end the it like pony wants!!! curly is a very revenge heavy person and even if he wasnt, he doesnt wanna make it seem like hes the one who lost. he would usually take SOME time to think of his plan, but in this case, curly justtt wants to find em and beat em up, nothin more (maybe im lying he probably does wanna kill them depending on how bad it is) nothin less

•tim doesn’t like getting involved in curlys own drama cause to him its always stupid as hell, has quite literally told curly that just bc theyre related and hes in a gang doesnt mean hes there to settle ALL of curlys troubles he gotta figure things out on his own and curly hates it but rn??? forget all pride hes tried showing to tim, curly is begging him to just help him this once

•after a MUCH needed very long angry scolding from tim about protecting whats urs and yknow BEING SMART!!! tim begrudgingly agrees to help curly out, imagine tim as being the scary parent a kid on the playground brings to win a stupid ass argument one and for all n thats also how it is. curly knows hes gonna b in BIG debt to tim after this and he CANNOT fuck up whatever next job tim gives him for the gang but he doesnt even gaf about that this is so worth it to him

•curly shifts between seeing pony a lot and then just going cold turkey. ofc he wants to make sure ponys alright at the same time tho, he knows what happens is his fault and he realllyy doesnt wanna see pony w a black eye he in a way caused. add on the fact that the gang doesnt want him around pony bc its exactly what they were afraid of and curlys dipping for a while!! he always said he could protect pony but look where they r now💔💔💔

•generally speaking here pony truly doesnt wanna speak to curly but for how long is entirely dependent on who started it. if curly was the one who jumped one of the socs guys first then yea ponys livid and will not b conversing, if not, still mad but would get over his anger w curly faster, leaving just annoyance w how curly manages to get each other in these situations, being TOO reckless more than anything. THE WAY I SEE IT THO, curly didnt straight up JUMP them technically, mess w someone who was close to em yea but didnt jump soooo socs fault 👍🏽

•by every other “actual (gay) hoodlum greaser bf” standards which curly is just surrounded w, ponys a wimp!! on this side of town he should b able to handle whatever comes his way and he should know that he always risks that by going out w a guy like curly. pony can handle being pushed around by ppl curly goes against but jumped????? aw yea no thats too much man. curly wouldve felt the same to a degree had it been LITERALLY anyone else but it aint and would defend pony against the ppl that try getting on his case for it

i thought endeavours attempt at atonement arc was interesting… but GOD i regret liking it at all!!

because the whole of the todo-fam drama was shifted to be centric from him!!!

shoutos meeting w rei gets off-screeened but everything with endeavour gets shown.

instead of two brothers broken down by their abuser and his expectations in different ways coming to together to fight— but ultimately end up understanding each other, you get this mess 😭

you get a shouto that is now a side character, pretty much irrelevant to the story once endeavours redemption in s5 began….

honestly w enji, he just ruined both shouto and dabi’s potential imo

like il it might’ve just been wishful thinking… with the whole dabi-loving-his-siblings-and-not-being-COMPLETELY-awful- BUT they really should’ve had him be a lil kinder i think! but making him less evil, making him not murder 30 random innocents, then undos the “ever so necessary” endeavour atonement arc

but dabis fight shouldve then turned to being about shouto- the sibling he loved and canonically called for to join the sibs play, but also the sibling he almost killed in a jealous rage….

then with him surrendering and staying in hospital, with NO visitation for endeavour, but rather shouto being the one who visits him the most (natsuo being a close second but being busy living his best life as a family man to his mousefamily)… or just straight up dies but after surrendering, like saying he wants to be in peace and understands now… because his hatred for endeavour literally fuelled his will to live so him making his peace with it could make him die!

also the bakugo plot was completely awful as well!

endeavour and him are both arseholes tarnished by the privilege society offers them

MEETING endeavours family and seeing the consequences in his FACE for acting like that in the long-term should’ve made jim change

IN FACT BEFORE THAT… upon his discovery at the sports fest, he should’ve realised that Endeavour’s similarities with him could make him potentially go down that same path

AND why does his whole plot revolve around saving deku?? i get that their characters r integral to each other but he could’ve also grown to appreciate midoriya in a diff way.

heres my idea:

ok so tetsutetsu and kendo fight an irrelevant canon fodder villain… and mustard is the FIRST person to find bakugo— before anyone even knows that villains are there.

mustard: a blonde haired boy whose quirk is excreting an element with dangers consequences… just like bakugo

also mustard: a bullied kid, wearing a middle school uniform, teased for his quirk status… just like midoriya

hes the perfect combo of both characters and wuld be a good character for bakugo to initially confront

then when it comes to the actual war…. hes back and theyre fighting. mustard’s quirk cancels out bakugo’s nitroglycerin-like liquid and he can’t explode anymore yet neither can mustard make ppl sleep…. so they have to fight quirkless

BAKUGO FIGHTING QUIRKLESS! in doing so he can realise his faults towards midoriya— how he would’ve been capable without a quirk,and how he couldve driven him to snap! and he could realise that he could’ve been just like mustard and had a “useless” quirk— like his parents had non-heroic type quirk snd he could’ve too!

the other character how i hate was done…. hawks‼️

like we get his abused-child-turned-child-soldier story explained… and we get him spying on the villains

but what i really would’ve loved would be a moment where he’s like “at one point, i couldnt tell whether i was acting for the comissions will— to fake being a traitor, or if my heart wanted to be free and join the villains”

and like him becoming close w the villain and blurring the line between his perception of humantiy, good v evil, black v white etc… only the then kill twice, a good friend, for the “greater good” of society and choose his side officially…

only to then find out that twice had a point— that society and the commision were complicit in endeavours abuse

and then hawks breaks— the realisation that the man he idolised, the reason for him BECOMING a child soldier, the man who rescued him from his abusive father WAS an abusive father too and the villains had a point about everything and he was just too focused on the commisions will driven into him to see it.

then maybe tokoyami speaks to him, helps him the light— hells him see how society can evolve if they give it a chance to try and asks him to join jim together in changing it…. and then u get the fight w him vs afo

AND then him becoming the president of the commission would make a bit more sense!

i’m on the fence about proshipping. On the one hand, don’t like it? Don’t read it. I’ve read some crazy fanfiction that teeters on the line, but that’s not the point. On the other hand, it gets to a point where…you’re just normalizing r@pe or inc3st in fiction. And people say it’s just fiction, but fiction can definitely influence reality! But writing shouldn’t be censored. People should be free to write what they want, however they want. It’s art and should be treated with the same diligence. However, the when, where and how proshipping fanfics are presented SHOULD MATTER. It’s not censorship to require warning tags, or restrict it from young readers more severely.

and i (personally) have some views that are probably pretty controversial LMAO. Which is pretty much, if something is normalized in fiction and it doesn’t breach over into real life, we’re okay.

say for instance, murder is common in fiction, it has been justified, shown as good, etc etc. practically doesn’t get portrayed or seen as bad. yet irl if someone goes out there and kills a random family, ppl aren’t going to go “oh yeah, thats normal” they’re going to be upset and appalled for what that persons done.

same thing with incest and rape, theres been a lot of fanfics over the years that have those two things, yet both are absolutely abhorrent in real life bc they hurt people, and no amount of normalizing it in fiction will normalize it irl.

And we can even get into old examples like with Greek Mythology where rape and the incest were seen as normal(-ish) in the stories, and still, people think that those things are horrible in real life, so fiction didn’t affect reality there. So, why would it change with like, idk, a wincest or willmike fics.

yes writing can influence reality, but only if you let it. Do research, look at studies, don’t rely on words that a random person made up to tell a story, because then, you are at fault, not the creator or the work. (You spoken generally here, not at you anon)

If you live your life and base your knowledge only on fiction and nothing more, then yeah, your reality is going to be skewed, but again, thats not the fictions fault. - 🧁🍕

spoilers ahead !!! full disclosure: these are my opinions and no one is obligated to agree w me but if u don't i'm literally begging u pls explain urself properly in replies or just don't engage. it's rlly not that deep i just can't w mfs who just say shit like "ur wrong" without giving it any real thought and acting mature and explaining their opinion. if ur a hardcore thea hater/lover honestly just do the smart thing and don't even read on. thanks pooks !!!

gotta preface this by saying: i am not a thea hater. she's done a lot of things wrong that i'll go into but i don't have a strong hatred or even dislike for her. that being said i'm fully aware that if there's anything that will get the aftg fandom riled up it's thea muldani or the extra content. one of those.

first off, i'm well aware that thea is very much a victim of the nest, as much as jean or kevin. and also we don't even fully know how deeply thea was entrenched in the shit that went down in the nest, all we know is that she probably didn't abuse kevin or jean the way others did, considering how she interacts w them in tsc. one of the main criticisms i see of thea is how she "handled" the whole situation w riko and kevin and finding out all of riko's abuse. ppl didn't like her "no harm no foul" attitude re: kevin's broken hand. i get this, considering it wasn't rlly "no harm no foul" given the lasting trauma left on kevin from the incident, and also how long he spent recovering. that shit leaves a long-term impact on ppl and riko still remains kevin's abuser, and thea was wrong for considering it to be "no harm no foul" bc there was harm done. that being said, i think ppl need to be aware that the nest was very much a cult, as neil so aptly puts it. and tbh i have had very little experiences w these sort of environments but i do know that the nest's mentality likely had a long-term impact on thea asw. no matter how deep the abuse went w the other ravens, they were all still subject to the deep-rooted competition and fear that everyone experiences in the nest. idk the full extent of it, but it's pretty safe to assume that thea (given how good of a player she is) is pretty deep in all the cult mentality. this isn't an easy thing to just grow out of, and a lot of the brainwashing that went on in the nest probably stuck w thea and contributed to her responses to finding out exactly what happened to jean and kevin in the nest.

one of the things i most dislike abt thea is the whole conversation between her and jean in tsc. i appreciate that she cares about jean and sort of took him under her wing, but i feel like what rlly stuck w me abt it all was the whole "tell me you weren't up to your old tricks again" line. obv this pissed a lot of ppl off in the fandom too, so i'm just gonna say my piece briefly; thea referring to the older ravens repeatedly raping jean on riko's orders as jean's "tricks" is fucked up. she probably didn't know that jean wasn't consenting and she didn't know riko ordered it, but she did know that jean was a child at the time and can't legally give consent, and she did know that it wasn't like he fucked his way up to the top cos he's had his number from the beginning. she was an adult at the time, and should've done more to protect jean. still, it's obvious why she didn't, cos again, she was also a victim of the nest, and was definitely not in the best position to help jean. that being said, her line does imply that it was jean's choice/fault for messing around and the wording is just pretty fucked, so i'm not gonna completely absolve her of any responsibility in this convo just cos she was also a victim.

another thing i see when ppl r responding to thea criticism is referring to the criticism as victim blaming. tbf, a good amount of it probably is, but i think there are still a lot of things to criticise about her, and just dismissing it as "blaming the victim" is a disservice to the ppl trying to make a valid point. stating that the way thea responded to finding out abt riko's abuse towards jean and kevin was wrong and careless isn't victim blaming. victim blaming is, as the term suggests, blaming the victim of a situation for the situation they're in. listen. thea is not a victim of riko's abuse, at least not in the same way jean and kevin are. thea was a victim of the nest, yes, but it's pretty clear that what jean and kevin experienced was out of her hands, and not on the same level (esp jean. idk what rlly went down between kevin and riko before the hand breaking incident). at the end of the day, i think the way thea dealt w the issue of riko and his treatment of kevin and jean was thoughtless, and pretty dismissive. but it also bears remembering that there wasn't much for her to do by the time she found out. riko died shortly afterwards, kevin took his place as the best striker on the court and jean was sent to the trojans to heal and recuperate. her response could've been more...sensitive (i don't think that's the right word but we'll go with it) but still, y'all will complain, but what was she supposed to do? nora already stated that she was angry at riko, but riko died soon after and other than her anger, there was nothing else for thea to do in her response.

lastly, another argument levelled at thea is re her relationship w kevin. i actually am not sure abt their age gap (i think kevin was 15 and thea was 18 when they first met???) but i do know that their relationship didn't start properly until kevin was an adult and a player for the ravens. i really don't see the problem with this, considering three years (as far as i know, it is three years) isn't a HUGE gap in maturity and by the time they were together they were both very much consenting adults. as far as we know, thea didn't make any moves on kevin when he was a minor, and (if i'm correct) kevin being 18 and thea being 21 when they first properly started getting together isn't anything problematic. they're in similar stages of life, in a very close environment that's toxic, yes, but that they're both familiar with, and it's clear that the feelings they have for each other aren't the same as the violent, repressed sexual feelings held by some of the other ravens. they do genuinely care about each other on some emotional level, much as the fandom may want to deny it, and i don't really think there was anything wrong with their relationship re: consent and the age gap.

anyway, that's really all i have to say except that i do think thea is a complicated and honestly pretty realistic character, given the horrific circumstances she experienced in the nest. i think the fandom is well within their rights to criticise her actions but it bears remembering that she is just a human being and is never going to be perfect, and i think the way she acts is very real and true to her personality and circumstances and she makes a lot of mistakes, but that's just the human condition. it's also insane how much hate thea receives when she's honestly pretty on par with most of the other aftg characters on the moral "scale", if that even exists here. it's pretty baffling how much hate thea receives when she doesn't act all that differently to andrew, neil and kevin. it erases a lot of her complexity and does a disservice to her character (which, if you think about it, we don't know all that much about) to just label her as a purely "good" or "bad" character. aftg is not meant to be portraying conventionally "good" people, and i just think all the thea discourse is really interesting to put under a microscope and dissect.

I'm so sick and tired of Sansa hate train. Why is it so easy to forget at the beginning of AGOT, she's 12-13 and has always lived quite a sheltered, peaceful life. Sansa enthusiastically accepts gender roles of the period? She has no reason to think being a woman in Westerosi society is something terrible - her parents' marriage is a happy one, Cat, who's her role model, apparently enjoys being a mum and generally seems content with her life. Sansa perceives arranged marriages as something utterly natural (just like all girls and women from her social class do) and trusts her parents (yet again, happily married) will find her a good husband. Why wouldn't she? She's "bastardophobic" (and it's Cat's fault)? The whole Westerosi society is, but for some reason, a 12 year old, probably told by her Septa how awful and sinful creaturs illegitimate children are, is the one who's so fiercely hated. Sansa isn't particularly close with Jon? And neither is she with any of her brothers! "Coeducation" doesn't exist in Westeros, girls and boys are prepared for differet roles by different people (even if they're siblings). Girls are left in the care of their mothers and septas, while men like swordplay teachers, tutors and in case of more modest families, fathers, are in charge of raising boys. Young men are often sent away from their family houses and serve as squires, preparing for kinghthood. I also find it ridiculous the "antis" blame Sansa for not being able to see through Cersei and falling for the Lannisters' bullshit. Bitch please, Ned, a man in his mid 30s, failed to adapt to the twisted world of court intrigues! i mean ig shuichi fought for his truth but what about challenging his truth . everyone got to have that challenge of trying to get away with their lies.

like yes i will be mean to other high functioning autistic ppl whom show on their blogs they are able to write and interpret things from their favorite fandom material but donot put the same effort into general media literacy, im not asking you to be the smartest scholar in the world who knows all the biggest words and phrases im asking you to atleast know how to properly intake information and identify components of media that can be harmful, asking that of grown adults that are actively posting about why they know angeldust and the villain from hazbin hotel are meant to be lovers is not killing anyone

autism is a spectrum and quite frankly not everyone doing this has autism so idk why we are hung up on this i just personally see white autistics do this often and while everyone’s autism is different ofcourse im gonna scrutinize the ones that use their disability as an excuse to not try when they do try when it comes to cartoons and ships, and honestly im kinda over arguing this to ppl who feel so self important that they don’t even want to consider that their unwillingness to improve is directly causing harm, i am not that smart, never have been never will be, i do not know a lot of words, i misspell things, sometimes i struggle to read and interpret things, but i am still able to try to do so, and i still try especially when it comes to media reporting events and discussing socioeconomic problems, i would never gloat or find it funny to say my media literacy is bad and blame that on middleschool as an adult, bc that removes accountability when i clearly am able to interpret and understand things at an adult level, i had ppl react the same way when i pointed out ppl with autism can be racist just like they can be any other form of bigoted bc they are a human being, pretending that autistic ppl can never do or cause harm is unhelpful, and it’s especially unhelpful when i see people who r able to function and understand certain things completely plug their ears and deny any fault or blame in what they do
